Tau Beta Sigma is a National Honorary Band Sorority. It is dedicated to promoting collegiate bands through service and leadership as well as promote and enrich an appreciation of band music by recognition and education of its members.
Here at North Dakota State University (NDSU), the co-ed Alpha Theta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma has served the “Pride of North Dakota” Gold Star Bands for the last 50 years through service and social activities. The bands included are the nationally recognized Gold Star Marching Band and Gold Star Concert Band, as well as smaller groups within NDSU's Department of Music.
Since it's founding in 1953, the Alpha Theta Chapter has been an integral part of the success of the Gold Star Band at NDSU. We maintain the marching band uniforms, design season t-shirts, provide band camp survivor kits, assisting with the function of North Dakota All State Band and Choir Auditions, EDC regional music contest, North Dakota state music contests, provide a family lunch over band parents weekend, plan socials, prepare tour food and raise money to help support the band.
Being the dedicated band members that we are makes the sisters and brothers of the Alpha Theta chapter the heart of the Gold Star Band. It is an honor to be selected to serve this now, 100-year-old band.
